Typically when we need a new foundation we will search several different drug stores or visit cosmetics stores such as Mac, Sephoria, Ultra Beauty, just to name a few.
Going to drugs store to find a foundation can be different and some time nearly impossible to find the right shade because they dont provide the ability to test the products before you purchase and in most drug store the lighting this an off white balance which changes the color about everything. If you are determined to buy your foundation from the drug store then you have to try to find the foundation by matching it to the skin tone of your hand while the product is still in the bottle. I, personally know that this is next to impossible. I was one of those girls that use to open the products any way because I was not spending money if it was not to correct shade, never the less to go back and return the product.
If you do take the trip to go to a cosmetics store, you could easily be overwhelm by the amount of women that are shopping for cosmetics (all depends on the store location) and overwhelmed by the cosmetics selecting, never the less having a hard time finding a sales person that is interested in hearing your concerns, because themselves are overwhelm with customers and their managers assigning them to do 100 different things at once, while also providing the best customer service. When you finally do get a sales person to help you, they are very quick to apply cosmetic to your face,so they can convince you to buy those products. I believe the men and women that work in these stores are very talent and know what they are doing but I personally don’t believe they get to the core of what a customer is looking for in a foundation. There has been numerous times that I have been the person sitting in their seat to find the “Perfect Foundation” for my skin needs. What looks great in the store, does not look great when you leave the store or apply it the next day. This is not the makeup artist fault it is because our PH levels in our skin are not balances and most stores are either over lighted or under light and rarely have “TRUE” natural light. Here we are back with the same issue. The foundation does not match our skin tone or undertone, and it does not fit the needs of our skin.
